DEADSQUAD x Asakusa Deathfest 2016
ドラマーはデスメタルのSiksakubur、ベーシストはグラインドコアのTengkorak、ギターはストーナーのSeringaiと、インドネシアのエキストリームシーンの各ジャンルを代表するバンドのメンバーらによって結成されたDeadsquad。
更にもう一人のギターはインドネシアで国民的な人気を誇るポップロックバンドDewa19のメンバー。また後にはインドネシア特有のブルータルデスメタルを表す「カンカンスネア」の代名詞ともなったBloody Goreの後進バンドFuneral Inceptionのメンバーまでもが加入。まさにインドネシア・オールスターと言っても良いバンドである。
NecrophagistやSpawn of Possessionを彷彿とさせるテクニカルデスメタルを基調としつつも、インドネシア特有の切迫感を感じさせるスリリングなメロディや、慌ただしいリズムが炸裂。
インドネシアのデスメタルの共通項を全て抽出し、綺麗にまとめて、過激化させたらこうなるという、お手本の様なバンドだ。
Deadsquad was formed by former members of Indonesia’s iconic bands representing multiple extreme music genres; a drummer from a death metal band Siksakubur, a bassist from a grindcore band Tengkorak, a guitarist from a stoner metal Seringai.
The other guitarist was a former member of Indonesia’s nationally popular pop rock band Dewa19. A member from Funeral Inception - previously known as Bloody Gore, the brutal death metal band recognized for Indonesia-specific super-tense snare drums - joined them later, making Deadsquad essentially Indonesia’s all-star band.
While the basics of Deadsquad’s music remind us of technical death metal like Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession, their thrilling tunes and restless, hectic rhythm certainly are of Indonesian origin. If you extract all the common factors of Indonesian death metal bands, organize them and then make them even more extreme, their sound would be what you get.
